Syllabus
Overview
Almost any job you can think of involves computer science and this course will get you ready! After taking this class students will be able to understand how computer science relates to the following areas: programming, creativity, abstraction, data and information, algorithms, the internet and global impact. The programming language of Python will be will be used to acquire this knowledge throughout the year.
To receive an AP score for this class, students submit 2 projects to the College Board AND complete the AP Computer Science Principles AP Exam in May.

NMSI (national math and science initiative)
Our school has received a grant from NMSI. The goal of NMSI is to increase enrollment and scores for AP exams. I attended a summer training and will attend two more training sessions throughout the school year. Students will be provided with two study sessions that will help prepare for the AP Exam. These are optional, but I highly recommend they take advantage of these. The details are:
December 14 at Southmoreland High School from 8:00 am to 12:15.
February 8 at Southmoreland High School from 8:00 am to 12:15 noon.
April 4 at Soughmoreland High School from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
AP Exam given on Friday May 15, 2018 (8:00) at Franklin Regional.
December 14 at Southmoreland High School from 8:00 am to 12:15.
February 8 at Southmoreland High School from 8:00 am to 12:15 noon.
